PEERS (Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills) is an evidence-based social skills program for motivated youth who are interested in learning new ways of making and keeping friends. This internationally acclaimed program, used in over 35 countries was originally developed at UCLA by Dr. Elizabeth Laugeson. During each group session, young adults are motifying the traditional schedule to increase accessibility for families in the community.
Caregivers or mentors attend 10 seperate weekly group sessions for 1 hour per week and are taught how to support young adults in making and keeping friends by helping to expand their social network, and providing feedback through coaching during weekly socialization homework assignments. Participation and consistent attendance is required for young adults and their social coach or parent. Spanish-speaking families are welcome! A Spanish interpreter will be provided at the Monday night sessions.
