Brian Herritt is a retired police officer and the proud father of a young man with severe autism. Early in Officer Herritt's law enforcement career, he realized that a genuine lack of relevant training existed for public safety professionals dealing with persons with autism and special needs. In 2008, Officer Herritt was contacted by California Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) to serve as a subject matter expert for creating a statewide training curriculum for police officers.
