We have linked sites to each county’s reunification programs. These voluntary registries can give law enforcement quick access to critical information about a registered person who may suffer from communication issues. Individuals with Autism, Dementia, Alzheimer’s Disease and Down Syndrome are examples of members of our community who might benefit from this registry.
People with Autism or their family members can register for these programs and provide critical information, including emergency contact information, detailed physical descriptions, and photographs. An individual’s communication abilities, routines, behaviors, and other helpful information also may be entered to assist law enforcement. This information is confidential and will only be used if an emergency arises.
Families can also visit their local office and ask for their address to be entered into the premise history. This will not be tied to a particular person but will let first responders know that someone with special needs lives at this address. In some jurisdictions, this information may be shared with the fire department.
